| After several weeks in the recall pen, birds are simply
releases by opening the main door. Initially, allow only
about one third of the total number of birds to go outside.
Bobwhites are gregarious birds, and will call each other
to form a covey. The birds inside the recall pen will call
the others back inside. |
| Charlie points wild prairie chickens. Bird dogs trained
on released birds that act wild quickly learn to handle
wild birds. |
|
|
| Rural Bandit has birds located in thick cover. Rural
is an outstanding young bird dog typical of Dale's breeding.
Note the characteristic high head and tail greatly desired
by trialers and sportsmen alike. |
| Willie during a training session on released bobwhite
quail. Even the most seasoned bird dog trainer would get
excited about Willie's point and style. The cold weather
and snow didn't diminished Willie's willingness to work
birds. |
|
| A covey of bobwhite quail! These birds are ready for bird
dogs to work on. Dale's Quail
Program ensures that birds act wild and in fact birds
have successfully established a wild population. |
| A covey flush! These birds are strong flyers and act identical
to wild bobwhites. You'll need good flying birds to train
a bird dog, otherwise, dogs learn to creep and catch poor
flying birds. Through Dale's Quail
Program you will learn how to raise and maintain a recall
population of bobwhites as well as introduce them back into
the wild! |
| The Buckshot Bandit training on released bobwhite quail.
Bird dogs are initially trained with a check line and pinch
collar. |
| Bobwhite quail blend into the environment and they become
difficult to see. Several quail groups are feeding and relaxing.
